Job Description
* Based in Malaga, WA
* Permanent Full-Time
We are seeking an experienced Operations Supervisor to join our team in Perth WA. This role is responsible for overseeing remote cargo survey operations, laboratory support, and specific contract deliverables, with a focus on ensuring compliance, operational efficiency, and safety. The successful candidate will play a key role in managing specific contract activities while also supporting wider operational needs.
Responsibilities Include, However, Not Limited To Flowing
Field and Laboratory Chemical Testing & Analysis
* Collaborate with offshore lab teams to manage remote validation of custody transfer activities.
* Assign lab technicians to witness measurements, sampling, and analysis of cargo.
* Provide onshore support for laboratory operations, including routine and advanced testing.
* Conduct and oversee field and laboratory tests and provide data validation by performing routine mathematical calculations, and computations of measurements and presenting results in the reports ensuring accuracy and compliance with standards.
* Where applicable, act as shift leader responsible for laboratory activities in support of Shell Field Chemist whilst offshore or multiskilled lab tech / surveyor.
* Occasional offshore short-term travel may be required.
Data Collection & Reporting
* Collect and verify cargo documentation and samples.
* Prepare and present inspection reports of chemical analyses.
* Review all data for accuracy and completeness prior to reporting to clients.
Quality Control & Equipment Maintenance
* Monitor and control the quality and quantity of laboratory supplies.
* Support procurement of laboratory consumables and maintain inventory.
* Develop and implement maintenance plans for laboratory equipment.
* Prepare calibration and upkeep of test equipment to ensure reliability and precision.
Production Chemistry Support
* Act as shift leader for laboratory activities in support of the Offshore Chemists.
* Provide technical support as directed by the Production Chemistry Lead.
Act a 3rd Party Independent Remote Cargo Surveyor
* Collaborate with offshore Lab team to manage remote validation of custody transfer related activities.
* Independently, lead all the offtake communication with the involved parties Shell lifting team, Lifters & buyers.
* Receive cargo document instructions to verify compliance.
* Support Asset support teams on pre-load requirements.
* Assign the lab tech that will witness the measurements, sampling & analysis.
* Receive the cargo documents from the carrier and prepare the inspection report.
* Act as single point of contact for loading operation.
* Cross check the carrier documents and confirm that the TTL can sign.
* Receive the FLNG documents and cross check alignment with the carrier documents.
Chemist Coordination
* Custodian of laboratory roster: control of mobilisation and demobilisation of the personnel, control of Timesheets and their submission for approvals for invoicing.
* Control of the personnel being up to date with necessary inductions, training, medicals or other prerequisites for attending the offshore Prelude facility.
* Act as account holder to oversee deliverables under scope of work including personnel.
Support Business Requirements
* BPR, KPI (HSSE and Performance).
* Contract Management related activities under scope of work.
Other Duties
* Act as a liaison between Field surveyors, Inspection manger and Clients on selected jobs.
* Perform field inspections if required.
* Job control: Receive Client orders, assign work to field staff, follow up on job progress and reports to Clients.
* Oracle user: Frontloading sales orders in Oracle and BOSS systems as per SGS Finance department instructions and rules.
* Submitting invoicing supporting reports and docs to billing team Assisting Inspections Manager for monthly financial reconciliation.
* Organising, implementing and utilisation of SGS Global systems such as SIR/SAT, SOL and others as well as all kinds of platform required from the clients.
* Ensure pending jobs are completed as scheduled and identify / report any potential problems to management.
* Review all data for accuracy and completeness, prior to reporting results to client.
* If qualified and experienced: Write and update the technical work procedures/instructions in addition to simplify the Oil, Gas & Chemicals custody transfer standards and SOP for the field surveyors and train personnel for the duties.
Qualifications
* Experienced and preferably IFIA-accredited Qualified Surveyor/Inspector (IFIA accreditation is an advantage).
* Experienced in chemical testing of LNG, LPG and Condensate cargo
* Proven experience in LNG, LPG, and condensate cargo inspections.
* Strong planning, time management, and resource management skills.
* Excellent communication and organisational abilities.
* Valid Australian driver's licence.
* Ability to obtain and maintain a Maritime Security Identification Card (MSIC).
* Experience with different vessel types and cargo operations.
* General knowledge of the shipping industry (desirable).
* Professional user of Microsoft office.
