About Our Team
We're seeking a friendly and enthusiastic Cafe Assistant/Barista to join our welcoming team. As a key member of our café team, you'll play an important role in creating a warm and enjoyable experience for residents, their families, and visitors.
This is a permanent full-time opportunity where you'll be part of a dedicated team making a genuine difference in residents' daily lives.
Responsibilities:
* Prepare and serve barista coffee, tea, and other beverages with a smile.
* Offer light meals and snacks, considering dietary needs and personal preferences.
* Assist residents with mobility challenges to enjoy café services or table service.
* Support special events, celebrations, and themed activities in the café.
* Clean kitchen, service areas, and dining area around the coffee shop.
* Work with the Chef Manager to discuss supply of items needed to run the cafe properly.
* Ensure the cafe area is free from workplace hazards, trips, slips, or other safety issues.
* Contribute to a positive team culture and support resident well-being.
* Assist in/during dining room service when required.
This role involves physical tasks such as bending, squatting, lifting, and pushing items to carry out daily tasks safely. It's essential that you can perform these tasks without risk of injury to yourself, your colleagues, and our residents.
About You
We hire on attitude and aptitude, so experience in aged care is not necessary. While formal qualifications like a certificate II in hospitality are highly regarded, we're more interested in your friendly disposition, willingness to help others, and demonstrated experience in customer service or hospitality environments.
You should have:
* Demonstrated barista cafe hospitality experience with a passion for providing friendly customer service.
* A strong workplace safety attitude, behaviours, and 'eye' for removing all hazards.
* The ability to work independently, be a self-starter, confident, and communicate well with others, especially the kitchen staff.
* Able to problem-solve, 'think on your feet,' show initiative, and perform at a high standard.
* Excellent communication & interpersonal skills and the ability to make people feel welcome.
* A hard worker, flexible, and good availability to cover shifts.
