About the Role
The Director, Assurance leads the strategic assurance agenda for a complex, high-safety focused Government organisation, delivering high‑quality risk insights, governance oversight, and performance assurance. Acting as a trusted advisor to senior executives, the role ensures assurance activities drive meaningful improvements in safety, operational capability, and organisational
resilience.
Key Responsibilities
Lead the design, implementation, and continuous improvement of the enterprise assurance framework, ensuring alignment with organisational risk strategy and regulatory expectations.
Oversee assurance programs, audits, and reviews that deliver clear, evidence‑based insights to strengthen operational reliability, safety culture, and risk maturity.
Provide expert advice to senior leadership, shaping strategic decisions through structured analysis, high‑quality reporting, and effective risk communication.
Drive continuous improvement across assurance functions, embedding best‑practice methodologies and proactive risk management.
Build strong partnerships with internal and external stakeholders, including regulators, technical specialists, and operational leaders, ensuring transparency, accountability, and robust oversight.
Lead and develop a high‑performing team, fostering capability uplift and a culture grounded in integrity, curiosity, and delivery excellence.
About You
You are an accomplished assurance or risk leader with strong executive presence and outstanding communication skills. You excel in complex, high‑change environments and have a proven track record of influencing at senior levels. You bring strategic thinking, stakeholder agility, and a commitment to delivering assurance that genuinely enhances organisational performance.
What You Bring
Extensive experience in enterprise assurance, risk, governance, audit, or allied disciplines, preferable within Government Infrastructure
Demonstrated success in shaping and leading major organisational change or uplift programs.
Strong analytical and conceptual abilities, with a talent for translating complexity into clarity and actionable insights.
Confidence and credibility engaging senior leaders, regulators, and subject‑matter experts.
A passion for building capability and leading high‑performing teams.
