About The Business Unit

The Koori Justice Unit (KJU) is a unit within the Aboriginal Justice Group of the Department of Justice and Community Safety (DJCS), established to help realise a fair and accessible justice system for Aboriginal people.

The KJU is responsible for coordinating the implementation of the Victorian Aboriginal Justice Agreement - Burra Lotjpa Dunguludja - currently in its fourth phase (AJA4), in partnership with the Aboriginal community and Victorian government, in line with realising Aboriginal self-determination.

About The Role

As the Project Support Officer, you will provide day-to-day coordination and administrative support to KJU programs, including scheduling, logistics, document preparation, and internal reporting. You will report to the Manager Programs and assist in the administration and monitoring of a number of community-funded grant programs of the AJA to ensure compliance with contract specifications and timelines. Some Of Your Responsibilities Will Include

- Assist with project tracking, milestone monitoring, and internal reporting to support program implementation aligned with AJA outcomes
- Draft, edit and collate documents including briefing notes, status updates, meeting papers, and presentations for internal and external stakeholders
- Support the coordination of RAJAC and LAJAC-related meetings, workshops, and engagement activities, including liaising with regional contacts and community reps
- Monitor shared inboxes relevant to programs and respond or triage inquiries in a timely and respectful manner

About You

To be successful in this role, you will have:

- Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of Aboriginal communities, society and culture, and the issues impacting them
- Demonstrated ability to communicate sensitively and work effectively with Victorian Aboriginal communities

Applicants are welcome to utilise support from the Aboriginal Recruitment Team throughout the recruitment process.
