Details: Join a small, high-performing team at the centre of the ACT Government, where communications, community recognition and ceremonial traditions come together. We're seeking a Protocol, Honours and Ceremonial Events Officer to support the Chief Minister, deliver key awards programs and coordinate high-profile civic events.
In this role, you'll help manage major awards programs including the ACT Australian of the Year Awards, Canberra Citizen of the Year, Canberra Gold and the ACT Public Service Medal. You'll provide clear, reliable protocol advice on ACT symbols and patronage requests, and prepare high-quality ministerial briefs and correspondence.
You'll also coordinate significant ceremonial events for the Chief Minister, including State Funerals and Memorials, Ceremonial Tree Plantings, Freedom of Entry Parades and Keys to the City presentations. Working collaboratively with teams across government, you'll promote awards programs, drive nominations and support broader communications and engagement activities.

Eligibility/Other Requirements:
* Relevant tertiary qualifications or experience working professionally in honours and awards administration (or related industries) is desirable but not essential.
* A current driver's license is desirable.
Notes: This is a temporary position available immediately until 30 June 2026 with the possibility of extension up to 12 months and/or permanency. A Merit Pool will be established from this selection process and may be used to fill vacancies over the next 12 months. Selection may be based on application and referee reports only.
