We are currently looking for a FIFO Mechanic to join us on an on-going basis on Barrow Island working a 2:2 (Flying out of Perth).
The purpose of this position is to apply the skills, competence and experience of a qualified Heavy Road Transport Mechanic to a range of tasks as allocated by Contract Resources or Client Supervision.
Tasks include but are not limited to the identification of defective or worn mechanical components or equipment, repair/replacement of worn/faulty components or equipment, and modifications of all Heavy Road Transport Equipment both safely and to a high standard.
Essential qualifications
- Australian recognised trade certification – Cert III Heavy Road Transport or equivalent
- Minimum C Class Manual Drivers Licence
- Forklift Ticket - desirable
- Elevated Work Platform – desirable
- Working at Heights – desirable
- HR Drivers Licence – desirable

Knowledge, experience & skills
- Minimum 36 months post trade experience in Heavy Road Transport equipment maintenance
- Prior experience with industrial equipment desirable
- Thorough understanding of most brands of Heavy Road Transport equipment
- Knowledge of vacuum equipment or pumps desirable
Work Productivity
- Work productively to meet production schedules/delivery times
- Attend prestart meetings and/or other meetings as directed by the client/site
- Plan your work to make sure you have all you need at start of assignment
- Complete tasks safely and in a timely manner/within time allocated
- Complete time sheets ensuring job number and expenses and consumables are accurate
- Complete all necessary job documentation
Quality
- Take pride in your work and complete your work
- Perform all jobs as per safe operational procedures
- Ensure high quality of work is achieved and maintained
- Ensure all repairs are completed to the OEM standard or higher
Equipment
- Take responsibility for the plant and equipment you are using
- Take care of the equipment you are using
- Report any equipment problems immediately to a supervisor
- Tag out any equipment identified as unsafe to use
Safety
- Adhering to the safety management system by ensuring company compliance throughout all work activities.
- Work area is kept clean and tidy at all times
- Complete safe checks (or equivalent) and workshop inspections as specified by site/location
- Follow safe work procedures (SWP)at all times
- Report hazards, near misses and incidents immediately to your supervisor/manager
- Complete all relevant safety documentation as directed by Contract Resources/client
