Due to an increased demand within our business, SYPAQ are seeking a
Systems Engineer and Robotics Specialist
with Defence experience for a long-term opportunity with a Defence client. The project runs over 3 years with a potential of 2*12 months extension. This can be a perm role with SYPAQ or a long-term contract. The role is based in Symonston Canberra and offers a potential start in November 2025.

Overview
The Commonwealth requires the services of Level 3 Advanced Practitioner Systems Engineer and Robotics Specialist to supplement the military and contractor workforce. The Design Team Systems Engineer and Robotics Specialist will be required to provide input to the Digital Design Modelling and Standards teams.

Responsibilities

* There is a requirement for Design Team Systems Engineer and Robotics Specialist to assume the role of Technical Lead (as required). This role be required to conduct integration engineering activities to review and synthesize disparate and at times opposing technical views before making evidence based recommendations for inclusion in the relevant standard or models. It is anticipated that a close working enjoyment with RICO will be required to be developed.
* Work closely and collaboratively with the Standards and Modelling Program leads
* Collaborate with Capability manager representatives, Australian and international Defence industry representatives, and international coalition partner groups.
* Responsible for exercising technical authority over the development and maintenance of the AS GxA Standards and Digital Design models.
* The candidate is expected to generate progress reports, advise the SO2 Design of the related program technical risks and recommend options to resolve complex programming issues.
* The candidate will also be expected to work with other Frames, capability managers, acquisition agencies or external service providers where there is a dependency for the successful outcomes of the Design Program of work.
* Priority of effort is to assure fitness of purpose and safety of Design Team's product line outputs,
* Oversee engineering process alignment and governance within the Design Team product lines, in accordance with Design Team Program Management Office and other associated Departments
* Be able to hold and exercise design authority
* Conduct technical review and approval of engineering designs, documentation, investigation and trial reports as directed
* Assist in developing and maintaining GxA Standards (as needed) within the Standards Management program,
* Represent GxA standards to industry, broader Defence, and international stakeholders in accordance with the Land Integration Framework (LIF), provide technical support and advice to the Subject Matter Experts
* Identify and manage product or project risk, escalating to SO2 Design when this has potential to impact Design Team business outcomes
* Develop and serve as the technical POC
* Work closely with Design Engineering Manager to support the Design engineering processes, including information management for Modelling artefacts
* Engage with external engineering and technical stakeholders to understand technology solutions and frame strategic direction and outcomes

Experience
We are seeking a Systems Engineer with experience in complex Engineering/Software projects and robotics within the context of Defence to assist the SO2 Design to manage the Design Frame for the Commonwealth.

The successful applicant must be an Australian Citizen with a minimum of NV1 Security Clearance.
