Digital Producer - The West and Perth Now

We're on the hunt for enthusiastic journalists and digital producers to join our Perth-based team and help shape the daily news flow of our fast-paced, WA news websites – thewest.com.au and PerthNow!

As a key player in our dynamic online team, you'll support the Group Digital Editor and guide the content direction across the site.

What We Need

To thrive in this role you must have excellent writing and communication skills, sound news judgment and a keen attention to detail, combined with a strong sense of urgency, an ability to multi-task and a thorough grasp of online content distribution.

Key Responsibilities

- Source, write, and publish original stories for the website.
- Utilize social media for both story discovery and promotion.
- Apply news judgment and use analytical tools to maximize story visibility.
- Write and edit content, including headlines, captions, and embedded media.
- Support the Group Digital Editor in guiding the daily content direction.
- Maintain awareness of legal and ethical issues in reporting.
- Represent the company professionally and courteously in all interactions.
- Continuously upskill and stay updated with technology and digital trends.
- Work effectively in a collaborative, fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
- Conduct professional and thorough interviews.

What You Bring

- A journalism degree and experience working within the media industry.
- A strong work ethic and a healthy level of initiative
- A high level of literacy and attention to detail
- Good interview and communication skills
- The ability to work autonomously under high pressure.
- Flexibility in a seven-day newsroom - including weekend shifts - and the ability to work later in the day.
