About our Client
Our client is seeking a casual Chef to join their on-board research vessel, home port in Port Adelaide.
They are looking for someone to back fill the incumbent, who will be taking leave, to assist with meal preparation for the ship crew on back-to-back voyages from October until the end of the year.
This is a unique job opportunity to combine your professional cooking skills in a small environment living life at sea, supporting the vessel team with their vital research work.
Please note prior experience working as a chef or cook on board a boat / vessel at sea is an essential requirement of this role.
About the Role
Voyages range from 4 days to 2 weeks.
First departure on 3 October 2025.
You will be responsible for preparing 3 meals a day for 5 to 10 people, with flexibility to create your own menus.
Manage all aspects of cooking and kitchen cleaning on board a live-aboard vessel.
All groceries and supplies are organised and paid for by the client.
The ship's home port is based in Port Adelaide, with occasional travel to other ports.
Flights, food, and accommodation will be covered by client if required to depart from another port other than Port Adelaide.
The chef will have their own cabin with shared bathroom facilities.
Work alongside friendly, professional and adventurous crew members.
About You
Prior experience working as a chef or cook on board a boat / vessel at sea (mandatory)
Comfortable with working offshore for long periods of time.
Ability to work independently and deliver high quality menu items for crew and guests.
Ability to provide friendly customer service and accommodate dietary requirements.
Shortlisted candidates will be required to participate in a Teams interview with the client.
