About the role
Melville Cares is seeking Support Workers who are available to work across a number of shifts in Melville and surrounding suburbs. These shifts may include morning shifts from 7 am to 2 pm, afternoon shifts from 2 pm to 8 pm, or a split shift covering early mornings and early evenings from Monday to Friday with a minimum of 21 hours per week availability.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide care and support to clients in accordance with their care/support plan;
* Communicate with clients, their household members and family, colleagues and others in a professional manner with respect and empathy;
* Promote and foster the independence of the client;
* Report to the coordinator any changes observed in the client, the home's safety or other relevant aspects of the home environment;
* Complete Melville Cares documentation to the required standard;
* Work without direct supervision;
* Work within the Aged Care Standards and organisational Work Health and Safety Guidelines;
* Attend meetings, training and communicate to coordinator as required.
Qualifications
* Certificate III or above in Individual Support (Ageing or Disability);
* Ownership of and ability to operate a personal smartphone to an efficient standard;
* A strong commitment to supporting and assisting older people in the community;
* Ability to work with individuals from a range of social, financial and cultural backgrounds;
* Ability to work both in a team and independently;
* Accurate observation and reporting skills (verbal and written);
* National Police Clearance (no older than 3 months);
* 'C' class WA driver's licence and own regularly serviced and comprehensively insured vehicle;
* Willingness to undertake required training both to maintain required competencies and to develop additional skills to enhance service delivery;
* Physical fitness, ability to pass a medical evaluation;
* Previous relevant experience in the health/aged/disability sector is highly desirable.
