St John Ambulance SA provides Health and Medical Services for many of South Australia's largest venues, such as Adelaide Oval, Adelaide Entertainment Centre, and Adelaide Showground. It is also the chosen provider for many major events on the SA calendar, including Schoolies Festival, Adelaide 500, and WOMAD.
For over 140 years, St John Ambulance SA has supported the South Australia community to help save lives and build community resilience to improve the safety and healthcare for all South Australians. In addition to Health and Medical Services, St John Ambulance SA also provides community care, delivers nationally accredited first aid training, and is the largest provider of first aid products and equipment.
THE OPPORTUNITY
The Operations Training Coordinator will work within the Health and Medical Services Team to assist in the oversight of the operational education framework, working closely with operational and clinical leaders to design, deliver and evaluate education programs that support continuous learning and operational excellence. The role also includes mentoring operational trainers, ensuring consistent standards of instruction and assessment across all programs.
RESPONSIBILITIES
* Lead the development and implementation of the operational education framework, ensuring alignment with organisational goals, regulatory standards and best clinical practice.
* Design, deliver and evaluate training programs, onboarding and professional development to build workforce capability across paid and volunteer members.
* Collaborate with clinical experts and operational leaders to ensure all education content and assessment tools are current, evidence-based and aligned with scopes of practice.
* Manage the Authority to Practice (ATP) process, including assessment, issue, renewal and compliance tracking for all operational personnel.
* Support, mentor and coordinate operational trainers and volunteer educators to deliver consistent, high-quality learning experiences.
* Monitor emerging clinical and operational needs, using feedback and data to drive continuous improvement and innovation in training delivery.
* Maintain operational engagement through participation in deployments and events, ensuring training outcomes reflect real-world practice and readiness.
ESSENTIAL CRITERIA
* Current South Australian Driver's License.
* Must be prepared to relocate within St John SA, should the need arise; and to travel interstate / intrastate as required.
* The role will involve working hours outside of business hours including evenings and weekends, managed through TOIL arrangements.
* Current National Police Certificate and Working with Children Check, both of which are acceptable to St John SA, prior to the commencement of employment. Continued employment is subject to the maintenance of satisfactory checks.
* Ability to obtain St John Ambulance SA Authority to Practice at relevant clinical level.
* Where tertiary healthcare qualifications are held (e.g. Paramedicine or Nursing), incumbent must have unrestricted AHPRA registration.
* Child Safe Environments training within the first six months of employment.
QUALIFICATIONS
* Minimum Cert IV Health Care with relevant experience or higher (e.g. tertiary qualifications in Paramedicine or Nursing with relevant experience).
* Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (or willing to obtain).
* Australasian Interagency Incident Management System (AIIMS) (or willing to obtain).
