Job Title: Livestock Research Officer
This role involves working as part of a skilled team in the Agriculture & Food sector, contributing to research projects that deliver solutions for the livestock industry.
Main Responsibilities:
* Perform routine animal handling or operational tasks requiring skills developed through experience or training.
* Design and perform routine protocols to achieve research objectives.
* Collect samples according to defined standards and ensure samples are stored and identified correctly.
* Identify and report anomalies and co-design solutions where appropriate.
Key Skills and Qualifications:
* A tertiary level degree or equivalent relevant work experience in livestock husbandry.
* Demonstrated livestock experience; general husbandry, understanding animal behavior.
* Demonstrated ability for accurate record keeping.
* Demonstrated skills in use of data entry and analysis software.
The successful candidate will contribute to reducing methane emissions from grazing cattle and improving productivity, working with cattle in pen and paddock environments, preparing feed and diet supplements, maintaining and cleaning animal facilities, operating cattle respiration system, calibrating and servicing remote sensing equipment and data collection.
