Hancock Iron Ore is looking for an experienced talent leader with a strong focus on strategic business partnering and proactive talent sourcing, to transform talent service delivery and support our business as we move into an exciting new phase of our evolution.
As the Lead Talent Acquisition, you will coach and develop a team of experienced talent advisors to deliver a high quality, efficient service to Hancock Iron Ore’s operations, technical and corporate leaders. Leading by example, you’ll work in close partnership with our senior and executive leaders to identify talent opportunities, expertly balancing the progression of strategic programmes and planned work activities with the flexibility to quickly respond to changing market and customer needs, adding value to our people, our communities, and our organisation.

An experienced talent leader, your curiosity and collaborative approach have helped you to develop sound knowledge of the mining industry’s talent challenges and opportunities, giving you the ability to quickly understand stakeholder needs and build trusted relationships.
You are a champion of continuous improvement, skilled in analysing and integrating data into daily decision making to develop sustainable and commercially astute talent solutions and support your team to perform at their best. With demonstrated capability in managing teams, you are passionate about coaching and developing people to reach their fullest potential and can drive and encourage the importance, value and achievement of business, team, and personal objectives.
You’ll bring to the role strong capability in recruitment systems, processes and communications, ensuring that every candidate touchpoint delivers an on-brand, tailored experience that supports our talent strategy and positions Hancock Iron Ore as the employer of choice in our target markets.
Key responsibilities
* Leads and develops the talent acquisition team, with a focus on proactive sourcing and efficient and high-quality services.
* Fosters a high-performance culture through regular team and individual feedback, coaching and mentoring.
* Collaborates with business leaders, people and capability, and other stakeholders to embed equitable and inclusive hiring practices and contribute to DEI goals and objectives.
* Delivers a strong return on investment on recruitment and marketing technology by equipping the team with the required skills and knowledge to drive adoption.
* Utilises talent analytics to inform decision-making and measure recruitment effectiveness with a strong framework of KPIs and SLAs that support the achievement of HIO’s objectives.
* Ensures accurate reporting on budgets, spend and service delivery for recruitment vendors, actioning areas of under-performance.
* Drives continuous improvement across the SuccessFactors recruitment systems and core integrated technologies, ensuring data integrity, and a high-quality brand-aligned candidate experience.
Required skills and experience
* A tertiary qualification human resources, business, marketing, or a related field, OR; demonstrated internal talent acquisition leadership.
* In-depth knowledge of the Australian recruitment and mining markets, industry trends, and drivers of change and opportunities.
* Previous experience leading senior and executive level search and selection processes, and exposure to internal talent and succession planning.
* Demonstrated capability to drive exceptional recruitment performance within mining, oil and gas and/or other FIFO or heavy industries.
* Excellent organisational skills, with a high level of proficiency in data analysis and reporting, planning, scheduling and resolving conflicting priorities.
* Solid capability across core talent and recruitment technologies, including the execution of digital attraction, sourcing and management strategies.
* Experience in workforce planning, succession and development and the management of executive level talent within a large and complex business
* Experience leading large-scale recruitment projects, including volume hiring and assessment processes, including a strong understanding of competency assessment tools and techniques, psychometric assessments.
* Previous experience with SAP SuccessFactors and/or Smart Recruiters.
