South Western Sydney Local Health District’s Staying Safe in Community Directorate (PARVAN) offers a rewarding opportunity for an experienced and culturally grounded Senior Aboriginal Health Worker to make a meaningful difference for Aboriginal children, young people and families impacted by violence, abuse and neglect. This full‑time, permanent role sits across two critical services, the Child Protection Counselling Service and the Sexual Assault Service, and is primarily based at Liverpool and Hoxton Park Community Health Centres, with outreach across the Dharawal, Gundungurra and Darug Nations. In this role, you will embed Aboriginal cultural values such as connection to Country, community, family, spirituality and identity into everyday practice, ensuring services are culturally safe, respectful and holistic. You will engage with local Elders, Aboriginal organisations and community members to strengthen trust, build partnerships and support early access to care, while contributing to health promotion, prevention and community education initiatives that support healing, safety and wellbeing for Aboriginal families across South Western Sydney.

SWSLHD operates its services across the traditional lands of the Dharawal, Darug and Gundungurra peoples, in strong partnership with local Aboriginal communities to deliver better, culturally responsive health care, led by our Aboriginal Health services.We are a district that is committed to supporting you grow and develop your skills. You will be provided with cultural supervision, participate in cultural strengths mapping and form part of a larger, supportive Aboriginal workforce

We’re seeking a culturally strong and community‑minded Aboriginal Health Worker who is passionate about supporting Aboriginal children, young people and families. What you will bring:

* Deep cultural knowledge, strong community connections and a commitment to culturally safe, strengths‑based practice
* Experience providing psycho‑social support, case management and advocacy in culturally meaningful ways
* Confidence working across multidisciplinary teams and offering cultural consultation and leadership
* Ability to mentor and support other Aboriginal Health Workers
* A collaborative approach and motivation to shape services that reflect the strengths, resilience and cultural needs of Aboriginal people


Selection Criteria

* Please describe a time whereby you played a leadership role within a multidisciplinary team. How did you use your skills and knowledge to support the provision of culturally responsive service within this team?
* Give an example of a time that you have established networks that have supported referral pathways and coordination for Aboriginal clients and families. What knowledge, skills and strengths did you use to do this?
* Applicants must possess an Australian C-Class driver's license (including P1 or P2). Those who hold a C class license (P1 or P2 included) from a state other than NSW must obtain a NSW C class (P1 or P2 included) license within three months of appointment. Learner's licenses are not permitted.
