Office hours are 8:30am to 5:00pm with a preference for this position to work full-time at the office location
Job Description
The role encompasses oversight of the transactional processing performed by Assistant Accountants, together with direct responsibility for the maintenance of accurate and complete accounting ledgers for the companies within the role's responsibilities.
Duties include:
· Periodic reconciliations of suspense accounts, petty cash, inventory on hand, accruals and prepayments
· Preparation of tenancy schedules and variable outgoing reconciliations
· Processing and reconciliation of cattle sales
· Preparation of non-operating company annual budgets
· Preparation of non-operating company annual files and financial statements
· Responsibility for the accounting for other allocated assets and entities within the group
· Responsibility for preparing all group BAS's
· Overseeing Assistant Accountant's work
· Maintenance of fixed asset register
· Assist Chartered Accountants with various accounting tasks as required
The Successful Applicant
This role is suitable for an Accountant with suitable qualifications/commercial understanding and will require the following skills:
· Compliance with established policies and procedures
· Understanding of GST and application of it to invoice processing
· Sound understanding of BAS preparation and other compliance reporting
· Organised approach to all aspects of work, with sound time management practices
· Excellent interpersonal and communication skills - both oral and written
· Proven record of exercising discretion and confidentiality in the role
· Consistent and reliable attention to detail
· Outstanding commitment to, and track record of achieving goals and deadlines
· Proven motivation and success in working in a team-based environment, whilst still demonstrating good ability to work autonomously without constant supervision
· Ability to multi-task and handle shifting priorities
· Sound supervisory review skills
· Strong computer skills with proficiency in MS Office suite and accounting software applications (specific experience in using Finance One preferred but not essential)
