Senior Risk Lead, ESG and Wholesale – Australia & NZ
The Senior Risk Lead, ESG and Wholesale role is a key risk management position with a broad remit.
Responsibilities include independent risk management of the Wholesale business and second line management of ESG and Reputational Risks across Australia and New Zealand.
The role also acts as the Programme Manager and workstream lead for the AUH and NZ Climate Risk Programmes.
ESG Risks to be managed include climate, sustainability, modern slavery, human rights, indigenous reconciliation and access and inclusion.
This role has no direct or indirect reports.
It supports the AUH and New Zealand Head of Enterprise Risk Management as the lead ERM Wholesale Risk Steward and the ESG and Reputational Risk Steward.
Key Responsibilities
Enterprise Risk Stewardship – provide independent oversight and effective challenge to the wholesale business on the application of the risk management framework including RCAs, issue management and incidents.
Risk stewardship with respect to ESG and Reputational Risk-related policies.
Manage the AUH and NZ Climate Risk Programmes, act as lead for the Governance and Risk Management workstreams and the R&C; lead for other workstreams, including mandatory disclosures.
Ownership of all reporting as required to formal and informal committees and forums, including ownership of the ESG Forum and managing the secretariat.
Lead the development and implementation of Human Rights risk assessment and controls across AUH and NZM.
Provide subject matter expert (SME) advisory support for ESG and Reputational Risk-related matters, including preparation of the annual Modern Slavery Statement and identification and execution of continuous improvements.
Enhance and implement the Reputational Risk framework across AUH and NZM.
Work with the CRCO and the Head of ERM to partner with key stakeholders within AUH and NZM.
Liaise with key stakeholders across the wholesale business and offshore colleagues to ensure risk and assessments and framework align with group and regulatory requirements.
Act as the programme manager for AUH and NZ on Climate Risk Programmes.
Requirements
Seasoned professional with finance industry experience in one or more senior risk or compliance roles, including significant ESG and wholesale business experience.
Ability to work directly with ExCo level stakeholders.
Ability to articulate business and regulatory implications of analysis and findings clearly.
Experience interpreting and analysing large volumes of information or data and providing succinct summaries for management.
Ability to guide and structure the bank's reputational and sustainability risk management.
In-depth understanding and expertise in group and industry risk developments.
Confidence and knowledge to influence and challenge senior levels on risk issues.
Resilient, steadfast and a completion-driven self-starter.
Highly effective people and communication skills; able to work collaboratively in teams.
Completion-driven self-starter with high-level communication skills.
Preference will be given to candidates who hold Australian PR/Citizenship or Recent Zealand Citizenship, or who can demonstrate current unrestricted work rights in Australia.
