Job Description:
As a key member of our Environment and Waste Team, the successful candidate will be responsible for conducting manual audits of waste streams, gathering quantitative and qualitative data, and elevating community awareness about recycling and resource recovery. This role involves working closely with colleagues to design and implement effective programs that align with the City's Waste Education Plan and Strategic Community Plan.
The ideal candidate will have strong communication skills, be able to work independently and as part of a team, and possess a passion for sustainability and community engagement.
Key Responsibilities:
* Conducting manual audits of waste streams
* Gathering and analyzing data on waste management practices
* Developing and implementing community education programs
* Collaborating with colleagues to design and implement waste reduction initiatives
Required Skills and Qualifications:
* Essential:
o Over 18 years of age with the ability to work in Australia (passport or appropriate work visa)
o A reasonable level of fitness and able to walk/stand for three hours
o Mobile phone
o Current Motor Vehicle Driver's Licence and access to a car (mileage will be paid for the use of your private vehicle)
o Current Police Clearance
* Desirable:
o Previous experience in waste, sustainability, or environmental management
o Experience or interest in textile, sewing, mending, upcycling or clothing repair, particularly within a community or sustainability context
o Ability to explain activity to members of the public
o Current knowledge of recycling rules
o Data entry experience
o Community engagement experience
o A passion for waste and sustainability
o Multilingual candidates, especially those proficient in Tagalog, Punjabi, Filipino, Mandarin and Hindi, are highly valued
