**The Opportunity**
On behalf of a Federal Government Agency responsible for providing weather services to Australia and surrounding areas, we are looking for an
**APS6 Data Governance Officer** to work as part of the Finance Team. This role will be based in Melbourne and is an ongoing/non-ongoing opportunity with an immediate start.
The Agency are looking to expand its data governance function to better support and manage its financial data governance and system needs. The APS6 Data Governance Officer is a hands on role and will be responsible for the day-to-day coordination, management, maintenance and embedding of financial data governance policies, procedures, and related initiatives to ensure responsible use and management of financial data using SAP and other financial systems.
A critical part of the role is providing awareness, advice and support to stakeholders regarding the creation and use of financial master data in-line with best practice Commonwealth financial governance frameworks.
**Duties include but are not limited to;**
- Introduction of quality controls, providing assurance on the accuracy and reliability of financial master data
- Foster a culture that supports best practice governance including a framework that defines clear roles and responsibilities when managing the lifecycle of financial master data
- Support the delivery of best practice financial data governance based on investigation, analysis and Commonwealth guidance
- Develop and interpret relevant policy and procedures
- Participate in transformation projects and continuous improvement initiatives managed by the Business Improvement function
- Develop and maintain key stakeholder relationships
- Collect, analyse, monitor and interpret data and information, making recommendations to ensure key financial outcomes
- Ensure data governance, policy, processes and procedures comply with relevant legislation, accounting standards and Commonwealth financial frameworks
**To be considered for this role you will demonstrate;**
- CPA qualified accountant
- Experience working with SAP ERP and MS365 (notably Excel and SharePoint)
- 3-5 years experience in the lifecycle management of financial data/objects using SAP
- Previous experience in a Government department with knowledge of Commonwealth Government financial frameworks and data governance frameworks
- Excellent communication skills
- Excellent attention to detail
