Site Supervisor – Refurbishment project – Defence Sector
A market leading Tier 2 contractor with a proven track record of successfully delivering complex projects, our client is now seeking an experienced Site Supervisor to join their growing business in Newcastle NSW.
They work across refurbishments, repairs, remediation, demolition, upgrades, HVAC etc. on buildings and civil works as well. Will be running projects from smaller up to $5m; however the project you will be running initially will be a $1m refurb. Projects are generally Industrial, Defence or Commercial in nature, experience with similar projects in these sectors or similar across buildings and infrastructure will be an advantage.
Due to the defence nature of the projects, candidates must be an Australian Citizen with ability to obtain security clearance.
Responsibilities include but not limited to:
* Conduct onsite HSE and quality inductions with all onsite staff / subcontractors
* Review and manage key project issues
* Liaise with statutory bodies ensuring all relevant notifications are made
* Ensure site compound and amenities are established and maintained
* Organise all site inspections with clients, authorities and consultants
* Assist Project Manager with preparing scopes of work
* Understand head and subcontractor contracts, especially in relation to timeframes
* Produce and manage defect lists for subcontractors prior to finishing works
Qualifications and Requirements:
* Trade or building related Qualification
* Minimum 5 years' experience in site supervision of construction projects including planning, programming and management of onsite staff / subcontractors
* Construction Safety Induction (White) card
* Senior First Aid Certificate
* Sound knowledge of legislation, regulations and standards relating to building sites
* Proven ability to lead and motivate subcontractors
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills
* Ability to read and understand construction drawings and specifications
* Proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel
