About The Facility
John Hunter Hospital Engineering consists of 50 staff with the Electrical department comprising a team of 9. The department oversees electrical infrastructure for the John Hunter Campus and its ancillary buildings. The NSW Government has committed $835 million to redevelop the John Hunter and John Hunter Children's Hospital as part of the Health and Innovation Precinct project.
About The Role
As an Electrician in the John Hunter Hospital Engineering Department, you will perform general reactive work, including electrical breakdown repairs, preventive maintenance, testing, and construction refurbishments across the electrical infrastructure.
* Provide day-to-day maintenance for electrical systems in the maintenance department, including installation, breakdown maintenance of power and lighting, electric beds, nurse call systems, HVAC-related electrical work, steam systems, and other repairs as directed by the electrical supervisor.
* Undertake statutory testing and maintenance per Australian Standards (AS-3000, AS-3003, AS-3760, AS-3009).
* Collaborate with other qualified Electricians and receive support from John Hunter Engineering Management.
* Internal training opportunities through the MyHealth learning system; post-trade study may be supported with study leave.
Responsibilities
* Perform general reactive electrical work and preventive maintenance across hospital facilities.
* Install, maintain, and repair electrical infrastructure and related systems.
Requirements
* Full trade qualification; post-trade qualifications highly regarded.
* Experience in installation and maintenance within the electrical industry.
* Eligible to drive in NSW.
