Intern Program 2026/2027 – Process Engineer – Gladstone, QLD
Intern Program offers students a 12‐week summer internship at either Yarwun Refinery or Boyne Smelter. The role provides hands‐on experience in large‐scale processing environments and offers the potential to secure a graduate position upon completion.
Responsibilities
* Observe and learn refinery or smelter day‐to‐day operations.
* Work with experienced engineers to support continuous improvement of 24‐hour processes.
* Contribute to projects that enhance safety, efficiency and environmental performance.
Qualifications
* Penultimate year or 2nd/3rd year undergraduate student pursuing a degree in Chemical, Process or Metallurgical Engineering.
* Desire for early exposure to complex, large‐scale processing environments.
* Right to work in Australia or New Zealand (citizenship, permanent residency, student or postgraduate work visa).

Location – Gladstone, QLD
You will work at either the Yarwun alumina refinery (≈10km northwest of Gladstone) or Boyne Smelters Limited (≈20km southeast of Gladstone). Both sites operate 24/7, prioritise safety, and support environmental stewardship.
