What you will do
- Plan, prepare, and cook a variety of dishes according to the restaurant’s standards and recipes.
- Assist in menu planning and development, including daily specials, and help estimate food and labour needs.
- Ensure each dish meets high standards for taste, presentation, and portion consistency.
- Maintain excellent kitchen hygiene, cleanliness, and food safety standards, and ensure staff follow hygiene regulations.
- Manage daily food preparation, stock rotation, and ingredient storage to ensure freshness and minimize waste; may also freeze or preserve foods.
- Collaborate effectively with front‑of‑house staff and management to resolve food preparation issues and ensure smooth service.
- Supervise, train, and support junior kitchen staff, including demonstrating cooking techniques and advising on procedures.
What you should have
- Proven experience as a chef, ideally in a Chinese or Asian cuisine restaurant.
- Strong knowledge of food safety and hygiene standards.
- Able to work efficiently in a fast‑paced kitchen.
- Attention to detail and commitment to quality.
- Good teamwork and communication with kitchen and front‑of‑house staff.
- Strong time management and organisational skills.
