Applications are invited from suitably qualified medical/dental practitioners for the above position (s) in the Nepean Blue Mountains Local Health District.The position will be primarily located at Nepean Hospital within the Department of Intensive Care Medicine.
Successful applicants will be highly motivated and competent Intensive Care/Critical Care Physicians.
Applicants expecting to be awarded their Fellowship by the start date of the appointment, will be considered. If successful, the applicant will not be subsequently eligible to commence their appointment until after the relevant qualifications and requirements are formally completed.
The position will be a temporary appointment from beginning May 2024 to end December 2024.
The number of sessions will be working approximately a 1 week in 3 or 4 roster. On call requirements are needed when candidate is ‘lead clinician’ (= 50% of shifts).The expectation is to be within ~30minutes of the unit. Appointees may be eligible for credentialing and privileging across all other facilities in the Nepean Blue Mountains Local Health District

1. Possess or be eligible for registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
2. Possess Fellowship of the College of the Intensive Care Medicine (CICM) and/or equivalent specialist recognition as provided for by the Health Insurance Act 1997 and Staff Specialists (State) Award.
3. Sound clinical knowledge in Intensive Care Medicine demonstrated through successful clinical practice in an environment appropriate to the requirements of the position including evidence of participation in quality assurance activities relevant to the specialty.
4. High level interpersonal and communication skills and demonstrated ability working within a multidisciplinary team.
5. Demonstrated commitment to teaching and junior medical staff supervision consistent with contemporary best practice supervision standards.
6. Demonstrates the skills and attitudes appropriate for practice as a Senior Medical Practitioner including modelling of a high standard of professional behaviour to junior medical staff.
7. Sound clinical knowledge in the subspecialty of Intensive Care Medicine demonstrated by relevant qualifications and/or appropriate post-Fellowship clinical experience.
