Salary: Level 1, $1,256.20 - $1,275.80 per week (pro-rata) (GS (Misc.) GA 2025)

Dongara District High School (DHS) is a proud Independent Public School in the Mid-West Education Region.
We have strong academic programs with a very high standard of delivery of these programs. We offer our students the opportunity to participate in extension programs using online learning through the School of Isolated and Distance Education (SIDE) for years 11 to 12 and on-site delivery of Primary Extension and Challenge (PEAC) in Geraldton for years 4 to 6. Participation of these programs are by invitation and based on testing outcomes. Year 7 students are provided with a comprehensive transition program in readiness for entering secondary school. We have a partnership with tertiary institutions through the ASPIRE program which supports our academic year 9 and 11 students to identify university pathways.
To be successful in this role you should have a passion for the outdoors and enjoy maintaining the grounds, gardens, and facilities for the benefit of our staff, students, and school community.
The Assistant Gardener - Handyperson provides gardening, grounds, and facility management support to ensure a safe and clean school environment. They maintain and present the school grounds and gardens in an attractive, clean, and tidy condition, and provide a suitable growing environment for both soft and hard landscaping, including turf management. They also perform minor repairs and maintenance as requested, as well as other Gardener - Handyperson duties in accordance with the Department's policies and guidelines.
The successful applicant will ideally have effective communication skills to help develop and maintain good working relationships with school staff and external stakeholders. A sound knowledge of safe work practices would also be highly desirable.
