Clerk Grade: 11/12

Annual Salary Range: $149,739 - $173,174 plus superannuation

Employment Type: Ongoing, Full-time

Location: McKell Building - Haymarket

About the role

As the Manager, Investigation and Review, you will lead a dedicated team overseeing investigations and reviews under the Government Information (Public Access) Act 2009 (GIPA Act) and Privacy and Personal Information Protection Act 1998 (PPIP Act).

You will shape and implement investigation strategies, allocate and manage workloads, and lead complex investigations and reviews to ensure timely, consistent, and high-quality regulatory outcomes. Your leadership will enhance IPC compliance, strengthen capability across the NSW public sector, and support public confidence in information access and privacy management.

Your key accountabilities include:

* Leading and managing work allocation, workflow and performance within the Investigation and Review team.
* Managing, coaching, and developing staff to ensure effective service delivery and professional growth.
* Overseeing and managing complex investigations and reviews, ensuring they are consistent with legislative requirements and IPC standards.
* Identifying emerging issues, risks, and trends to inform policy, compliance, and education initiatives.
* Representing the IPC at meetings, committees, and external forums to promote understanding of IPC's functions and foster stakeholder engagement.
* Driving and implementing continuous improvement initiatives in investigation and review processes.
* Exercising statutory delegations from the Information Commissioner and/or Privacy Commissioner as required.

About you
You are a strategic and experienced regulatory leader with strong analytical, investigative, and people management skills. You thrive in a dynamic, complex environment and can deliver high-quality services that promote transparency and accountability across government.
You will be a collaborative communicator who can build strong stakeholder relationships, drive innovation, and manage competing priorities effectively.
To be successful in this role you will have:

* Tertiary qualifications in law, business administration, public policy, or a related discipline, or equivalent experience.
* Demonstrated experience in administering legislation and conducting or overseeing investigations and reviews.
* Proven ability to lead and develop teams to achieve operational excellence and continuous improvement.
* Strong stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to represent the IPC effectively in diverse forums.
* Sound understanding of regulatory frameworks, investigation principles, and procedural fairness.
