The Suburban Land Agency (SLA) is seeking an Assistant Director, Sustainability and Innovation to join the Sustainable Communities team for a three-month opportunity (with potential for extension) to backfill scheduled long leave. This role supports the delivery of SLA’s Sustainability Strategy, contributing to innovative, socially and environmentally sustainable land development for SLA. You’ll work across several key land development projects for SLA to influence outcomes that drive more sustainable outcomes, including helping to effectively embed new legislation such as the Urban Forest Act 2023 and Territory Plan 2023 (including it’s Design Guides). We’re looking for someone who: Has strong knowledge of sustainability in land development, including best practice tools such as Green Building Council of Australia’s Green Star rating tools, Can analyse and apply relevant social and environmental policies and initiatives to a land development context, Is highly organised and able to manage multiple priorities, and Brings excellent communication and collaboration skills. You’ll contribute to a wide range of projects—from living infrastructure, climate resilience, to embodied carbon and energy strategies —and help shape SLA’s next Sustainability Strategy during a critical phase in its development. You’ll work on a range of SLA projects as a technical sustainability expert – including for the Molonglo Town Centre project during it’s master planning phase.
