Job Opportunity for a Maintenance/Handyman
About the Job:
* We are looking for an enthusiastic and reliable individual to join our team as a part-time maintenance/handyman at our retirement village in Mandurah.
The successful candidate will be responsible for performing general maintenance tasks to ensure resident comfort and safety, including undertaking minor repair jobs, changing light fittings and globes, replacing batteries in smoke detectors, and checking roof spaces.
As part of this role, you will also inspect and fix roof tiles and gutters, perform basic plumbing repairs and replacements, assist with moving larger items as needed, test and reset ECS units, fault find and repair village gates, maintain and test the village swimming pool, and keep fish ponds clean, including filters, pumps, and UV lights.
In addition, you will be responsible for ensuring common areas are clean, including pathways and tidying up, checking perimeter fencing for graffiti and excess rubbish, and maintaining external areas' cleanliness.
You will work closely with external tradesmen for complex issues and ensure safe work practices at all times.
As a successful applicant, you will have demonstrated experience in a similar role, excellent verbal and written communication skills, basic computer skills, a pleasant, patient, and calm manner when working with older people, attention to detail with task completion within timeframes, and the ability to work effectively as part of a team or independently.
A valid Test and Tag Certificate or willingness to obtain one, a valid Police Clearance (issued within the last 90 days), and willingness to undergo a pre-employment medical examination are also required.
