The Medicare Urgent Care Clinic in Mount Gambier will provide bulk-billed, walk-in care for non-life-threatening urgent health conditions. The clinic will be open seven days a week and will offer timely treatment for conditions such as minor fractures, sprains, infections, respiratory illnesses, minor burns, and cuts. The clinic will not provide long-term care or manage chronic conditions, and life-threatening emergencies will be referred to hospital emergency departments. The Mount Gambier clinic is part of a nationwide network of Medicare Urgent Care Clinics, focused on making urgent, high-quality health care accessible and convenient for patients.
About the Role
We are seeking a professional and organised Administration / Reception team member to join our busy urgent care clinic. This frontline role ensures excellent patient service, manages enquiries, and provides administrative support to clinical staff. The position requires accuracy, punctuality, and adherence to safety and infection-control standards in a fast-paced healthcare environment.
The ideal candidate takes pride in consistent, protected practice and works well within a supportive team. Strong communication, attention to detail, and a proactive approach are essential. Calmness under pressure, reliability, and a patient-focused attitude will help staff thrive in this role.
Key Responsibilities
- Accurately register patients and maintain medical records while ensuring confidentiality
- Provide high-quality customer service to walk-ins and telephone calls
- Process Medicare claims, and maintain billing accuracy
- Assist with general administrative tasks and stock management
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment
- Follow occupational health, safety, and infection-control procedures
- Communicate professionally with external healthcare providers when required
Requirements
Applicants should have experience in medical reception or a fast-paced customer service environment and demonstrate strong multitasking, organizational, and communication skills. Accuracy and attention to detail are essential, as is the ability to remain calm and professional under pressure. Familiarity with Medicare billing processes is preferred, along with a strong commitment to punctuality and reliability.
