This role brings the chance to work across diverse service areas, contribute to major initiatives, and mentor a high-performing finance team.Key ResponsibilitiesPartner with executive and operational teams to deliver strategic financial advice and analysis.Lead the development of Council's long-term financial plan, annual budget, and quarterly reviews.Oversee financial performance reporting and provide recommendations for improvement.Drive continuous improvement in financial systems, processes, and reporting tools.Ensure compliance with relevant legislation, accounting standards, and Council policies.Mentor and support Finance Business Partners and other finance staff.See the Position Description for a more extensive list of key responsibilities.Our Ideal CandidateWe are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Senior Finance Business Partner to join our Financial Services team.
This pivotal role will provide strategic financial leadership and expert advice across Council's operations, supporting informed decision-making and driving financial performance.As a trusted advisor, you will work closely with the Chief Financial Officer and other senior leaders to align financial planning with Council's strategic objectives, support budgeting and forecasting processes, and mentor finance staff.
Your ability to translate complex financial data into meaningful insights will help shape the future of our organisation.Key Selection CriteriaIf our values resonate with you "Opportunity, Respect, Strength and Accountability" and you possess the following qualifications and experience, read below about how to apply:Tertiary qualifications in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.Extensive experience in financial management, budgeting, and strategic planning.Strong analytical skills and the ability to communicate financial insights clearly.Proven ability to influence and build relationships across all levels of an organisationDemonstrated experience with TechnologyOne (highly desirable), or proven ability to provide end-user support and guidance across equivalent financial systems.CPA or CA qualification (or working towards) is highly desirable.Experience in local government or the public sector is an advantage.General Salary InformationThis position is classified as Level 7 Year 1 under the Hinchinbrook Shire Council Local Government Officers (Stream A) Certified Agreement.The salary is $111,380 per annum (effective from 8 October 2025) plus superannuation.The Selection ProcessWe welcome candidates to inform us of any adjustments they may need to ensure a supportive and inclusive recruitment experience and workplace environment.
