Bring your technical expertise and leadershipskills to one of regional Victoria’s most dynamic councils. Wellington Shire isseeking an experienced Municipal Building Surveyor to oversee statutorybuilding functions, guide a skilled team, and ensure the safety and complianceof our built environment.
Reporting to the Manager Planning and Building, youwill:
- Deliver thestatutory functions of Municipal Building Services under the Building Act 1993and related legislation.
- Lead andmentor a multidisciplinary team including a Deputy Building Surveyor, BuildingInspectors and Building Administration staff.
- Overseebuilding permit assessments, inspections, enforcement and public safetyresponses.
- Advise andsupport internal teams, Councillors, the community, builders and otherprofessionals on building compliance.
- Preparereports, manage legal proceedings and represent Council as required.
- Drivecontinuous improvement in processes, customer service and compliance outcomes.
About You
You are a confident leader and decision-maker whocan balance technical precision with practical problem solving. You will bring:
- Registrationas a Building Surveyor Unlimited (or the ability to obtain and maintain).
- Extensiveknowledge of the Building Act, Regulations, Codes and Standards, andcontemporary building methods.
- Provenexperience in a municipal or similar regulatory environment.
- Strongorganisational and time-management skills, able to plan, prioritise and deliverunder deadlines.
- High-levelinterpersonal, negotiation and conflict-resolution skills to build effectiverelationships with staff, stakeholders and the community.
- A currentdriver’s license.
