This is an exciting opportunity to lead the UI/UX design stream from the ground up, creating intuitive, accessible, user‑centred interfaces for a complex, multi‑year digital program with high visibility and strong strategic importance.
If you're motivated by solving complex design challenges, comfortable working at pace, and thrive on collaborating with diverse stakeholders, we want to hear from you
Responsibilities
* Translate complex information and requirements into an intuitive visual user experience for this business-critical system, which is in the first stages of its multiyear iterative design, build and implementation.

* This role be responsible for creating consistent and reusable design assets that support efficient, timely and meaningful development and delivery of the new system. This includes interactive, high-fidelity wireframes, mock-ups, prototypes, information architecture, layout standards and other design-related assets that are aligned with UI/UX design principles, accessibility standards and industry best practice.
* While existing branding will be reused for the system, as the primary responsibilities of this role relate to a new system not a legacy system replacement, this role will suit self-driven problem solver who will thrive working from a 'blank' slate to design the multiple internal and external business-critical system interfaces, in addition to UI/UX designer experience working on complex, data-driven web applications design and implementation projects.
* Critical to success in this role will be the ability to work at a fast pace and with autonomy, actioning feedback iteratively and with potentially conflicting stakeholder feedback at times. As will be the ability to create strong internal and external stakeholder relationships gained through demonstrating high professional standards, being able to engage both business and technical stakeholders in robust conversations and implementing mechanisms to ensure that deliverables are timely and of a quality standard.
* Championing accessibility and user-centred design throughout the engagement, the successful candidate will take a proactive approach to the UI/UX stream deliverables and ensure that the system design provides an intuitive and efficient user experience that aligns with requirements.
* This role will suit an individual with a high-level of knowledge and experience in blending traditional project management principles and practices with a tailored Agile development approach to fit complex, business critical projects with the appropriate level of planning for their own deliverables that provides the right balance of agility and predictability.
Skills and Experience
* 7+ years' experienceas a UI/UX Designer leading the design and refinement for data-driven web applications with complex forms, data visualisations, dashboards and reporting.
* Demonstratable experience independently developing high-quality development ready UI/UX assets that communicate design concepts clearly, leverage reusable components and are suitable for web application development. This includes interactive high-fidelity wireframes, prototypes, UI mock-ups, user flows, information architecture and layout standards.
* Demonstrated extensive understanding of accessibility standards, including WCAG, and UX principles, including human-/user-centred design, research methods and industry best practice.
* Demonstrated experience working on complex, data-driven web application systems, preferably new systems that provided increased creative freedom and a 'blank' slate to work from.
* Experience collaborating with multidisciplinary internal and external teams to inform design decisions, including end-users, technical staff (e.g. developers, data engineers, testers, etc.), product and business owners, and senior leadership to validate design decisions and system development outcomes.
* Experience planning and facilitating collaborative co-design workshops with differing stakeholders, including those representing end-users.
* Proficiency using modern design tools, such as Figma. Note: while preference is given to using Figma for interface design creation, they are willing to consider other tools for use on this project.
* Ability to independently identify, interpret and consume information from a variety of sources to inform design decisions, including written documentation (e.g. functional and non-functional requirements, user stories, policies, etc.).
* Ability and willingness to work at a rapid pace in an environment with no existing system(s) to refer to, and evolving policy and processes.
* Experience supporting accessibility and user acceptance testing is desirable.
* Experience with Reach based applications is preferable.
* Integrity, honesty, fairness, impartiality and commitment to values-based leadership.
