We invest in the development of our people, and we strive to be a workplace that is respectful, engaged, accountable, creative and honest.About the roleThis is an exciting leadership opportunity for a motivated and forward-thinking professional to lead the maintenance and renewal of the City's parks infrastructure assets.Reporting to the Coordinator City Presentation, the Team Leader Parks Infrastructure will manage a small in-house crew and oversee external contractors to deliver asset maintenance programs for playgrounds, park furniture, fencing, hard surfaces, irrigation systems and other park infrastructure.
You'll be responsible for planning and delivering the team's annual program, responding to customer service requests, identifying asset renewal needs, and supporting asset inspections and audits.This role sits within Council's newly structured Parks Services Unit and plays a key role in supporting the safe, functional and high-quality presentation of parks and open space across the municipality.About youYou're a solutions-focused leader with a strong background in parks maintenance, asset management or infrastructure coordination.
You have experience supervising staff or contractors and enjoy planning, scheduling and delivering maintenance works in a timely and efficient manner.You bring strong interpersonal skills, a collaborative mindset, and an eye for detail.
Whether you're leading your team, liaising with contractors or working alongside other open space leaders, you take pride in delivering well-maintained infrastructure that enhances community amenity and supports safe, vibrant parks.Key requirementsTertiary qualifications in Horticulture, Parks Management, or trade qualifications in related discipline with several years of experience working in local government or a similar environment.Demonstrated experience in parks and open space maintenance, with experience leading teams.Demonstrated understanding of contract administration, including monitoring and OH&S requirements.Demonstrated comprehensive knowledge of open space maintenance programs, with high level problem solving skills and the capacity to inspire and support innovative thinking.Knowledge and skills in contemporary management practices, staff and financial management, performance management, staff development, change management and business excellence.Highly effective interpersonal skills, incorporating verbal and written communication, listening, liaison, advocacy, facilitation skills, and excellence in customer service delivery.Demonstrated capacity to effectively manage time, establish priorities, and achieve business and team objectives despite conflicting pressures.Demonstrated well developed skills in oral and written communication with computer literacy including MS Office and applicable works management software.You may be required to undertake practical testing, work preference profiling / psychometric testing, functional capacity assessment (physical) or aptitude testing.The successful candidate will be asked to provide a clear Working with Children Check and consent to a national police check (and where relevant an international criminal history check), subject to the operation of spent conviction laws.
