About us

Destination Phillip Island Regional Tourism Board is based in Cowes, Phillip Island.

We are the peak Regional Tourism Organisation for the Phillip Island region, as defined from time to time in tourism industry strategic plans developed by the State, focusing on the development and growth of the tourism industry in the region, strategic tourism development and advocacy for the region. We support the delivery of; industry development, product development, regional marketing, strong advocacy and united voice for the region, effective coordination and communication, skills training, leadership and mentoring, networking, identifying investment/infrastructure opportunities, and managing tourism sustainability.

We have small passionate team of 1 full time and 2 part time employees.

About the role

This role supports Destination Phillip Island to deliver engaging digital content that inspires travel and supports local tourism businesses part of our local tourism partnership. The Digital Content and Social Media Officer creates destination stories and partner program deliverables across social, web and digital channels.

Working closely with the DPI team and local industry partners, this role helps bring the region to life through clear, warm and authentic content that connects with visitors and supports tourism outcomes.

Key responsibilities

Destination content

* Produce both short-form high-engagement content for social media and long-form content for websites, blogs, eDMs and digital campaigns
* Post 3-4 times a week on Instagram and Facebook accounts
* Support seasonal campaigns, events and key travel periods with strong storytelling
* Adapt content for different platforms while keeping a consistent brand voice

Partner program deliverables

* Develop digital content for industry partners as part of the Phillip Island and San Remo Partnership program
* Write partner features, listings, profiles and promotional copy as per the deliverables in the partnership program
* Liaise with partners to gather information and ensure content is accurate and on brand
* Deliver agreed content outcomes within timelines

Social media management

* Manage day-to-day social media posting, sharing UGC and supporting community engagement by responding to comments and messages to strengthen brand reputation
* Assist with content calendars and campaign planning including influencer/content creators and paid social media advertising
* Monitor performance and provide simple reporting and insights per a reporting template

Content coordination

* Source images and short video content from partners, photographers and media libraries
* Work with the wider team to align content with marketing priorities and brand guidelines

Skills and experience

Essential

* 2-3 years' experience in a social media/digital content role
* Experience in Canva, video editing apps and editing video for social channels
* Strong writing skills with the ability to adapt tone for different audiences
* Experience writing for social media and digital platforms
* Good understanding of tourism, travel or place-based marketing
* Strong organisation skills and ability to manage multiple deadlines
* Confidence working with industry partners and stakeholders
* Experience in paid social media advertising
* Ability to capture simple social content on location in the region
* Experience working in tourism, events or destination marketing
* Familiarity with content scheduling tools and basic analytics
* Staying up to date on algorithm changes, best practice and new social media tools

Employment details

* Part-time role with flexible days
* In person day in Cowes/Phillip Island minimum 1 day a week
* Fixed-term contract
* Hybrid working options available, including time in the region
* Occasional out-of-hours work during events or campaigns
