We are a leading, Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA)-licensed testing laboratory based in Victoria, specialising in pharmaceutical, medical device, cosmetic and consumer health product microbiological testing. Our facility operates under TGA license accreditation and upholds the highest standards of quality, compliance, and integrity.
Position Overview
We're seeking an experienced Microbiologist to join our dynamic Quality Control team. In this role, you will perform routine microbiological testing, contribute to development and validation, and ensure all work complies with TGA regulations, GLP and GMP principles.
Key Responsibilities
* Conduct microbiological testing of raw materials and finished products, including sterility and growth promotion assays
* Perform environmental monitoring of equipment, process water and manufacturing environments
* Assist with operation, calibration, and maintenance of microbiology laboratory equipment
* Support validation of microbiology procedures, environmental monitoring, and cleaning processes
* Observe and monitor laboratory and plant procedures, identifying areas for improvement
* Maintain accurate testing records, prepare technical reports, and support batch release activities
* Assist in training and supervising Junior Analysts as required
* Collaborate closely with Production, QA, QC, R&D, and Engineering departments
* Participate in internal and external audits when required.
Requirements
About You
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Microbiology or related life sciences
Minimum of 3 years' hands-on experience in a regulated pharmaceutical or food microbiology laboratory (mandatory)
Strong knowledge of GMP, regulatory pharmacopoeia (USP/BP), and lab safety standards
Proficiency in aseptic techniques and cleanroom practices
A collaborative team player who is organised, proactive, and self-motivated
Excellent documentation skills with strong attention to detail
Proven ability to quickly learn new processes and work independently while meeting tight deadlines
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Eligible to work in Australia or New Zealand (Australian citizen or permanent resident), or a valid working visa)
