About the role

We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Technician to join our Laboratory Chemistry team. We have a full-time opportunity available, offering flexibility while contributing to a high-performing team. In this role, you will apply your technical expertise to perform routine laboratory procedures, maintain equipment and ensure the highest standards of accuracy and service. You will work closely with supervisors, team leaders and fellow laboratory staff to deliver high-quality patient care. This position offers the change to build on your existing experience, grow your skills and play an integral part in a team committed to excellence and continual improvement.

Your key responsibilities will include:

* Perform routine laboratory procedures and specimen analysis in accordance with documented protocols
* Receive, prepare and process specimens with accuracy and efficiency
* Operate, maintain and calibrate laboratory equipment, performing daily weekly and monthly maintenance
* Monitor and trouble shoot instrument and quality control issues, escalating where appropriate
* Verify and report normal and abnormal results, ensuring urgent and critical results are communicated promptly
* Accurately complete all documentation, labelling, computer entries and phone calls

To be successful you will have:

Essential

* Minimum of two years as a technical assistant
* Technical assistant experience must be in laboratory or medical environments
* Exceptional communication skills (both verbal and written)
* Exceptional time management skills and able to work autonomously and independently
* Ability to cope and thrive in a busy environment and exceptional attention to detail and accuracy
* Ability to be well organised, reliable and demonstrate a positive and professional attitude
* Be proficient in Microsoft Office programs and be confident in using computer programs
* Knowledge of routine laboratory procedures, medical terminology and equipment operation

Desirable (but not essential)

* Relevant medical or health science degree would be highly regarded
