You will join a team of highly motivated and collaborative professionals that work in the Funding and Disclosure Reform (FAD) Program. The FAD Program was established to enable the AEC to implement and administer legislative amendments to the Commonwealth Funding and Disclosure Scheme (the Scheme) as set out in Part XX of the Commonwealth Electoral Act 1918 (Electoral Act) to increase transparency and accountability in Australia's electoral system.
The FAD Program is made up of three branches – the Program Management Office Branch, the Policy, Engagement and Design Branch, and the Technology Delivery Branch – that will work together to uplift the AEC's regulatory capability and capacity; and design, build and implement a new agile ICT system to support the Scheme.

The Opportunities
The technology delivery stream is responsible for building, refining and deploying the ICT solution in partnership with external delivery vendors and internal delivery teams. This includes functional and non-functional testing, user acceptance testing, and deployment activities. This stream provides technical expertise across multiple disciplines (including architecture, security, Azure cloud, Azure DevOps, ServiceNow, enterprise integration, and infrastructure) and acts as an IT enabler for the Program ensuring that the ICT solution is efficiently designed, secure, integrated and deployed.
The AEC is seeking multiple collaborative, self‐motivated and results driven Assistant Directors to join the Data Delivery and Delivery Management and Support Teams.
To excel you'll have:
* Demonstrated experience supporting large-scale business, ICT change programs and/or regulatory reform in the Australian Government context.
* Highly developed ability to build, manage and maintain relationships with a broad range of internal and external stakeholders and communicate with influence, whilst engaging professionally to resolve conflict and manage sensitivities.
* Ability to manage high-performing teams to achieve strategic and operational goals within a complex public sector environment. This includes working under limited direction to manage a team of staff.
* Ability to effectively identify and manage complex risks in a dynamic and multi‐faceted environment.
* Ability to achieve results in a fast‐paced, high‐pressure environment and within legislative and policy frameworks.
* Highly developed interpersonal, communication and negotiation skills.
Delivery Management and Support Team
The Delivery Management & Support (DMS) team provides strategic direction, oversight, and service desk support for ICT solution delivery within the Funding and Disclosure Program. This includes coordinating release management and technical transition to service activities, promoting effective DevOps hygiene across technical teams, and providing oversight of delivery risks, issues, and dependencies. The team ensures delivery remains aligned to program priorities, technical components are governed appropriately, and outcomes are delivered collaboratively across ICT and the delivery partner.
Desirable requirements for someone joining the Delivery Management and Support Team:
* Demonstrated experience enabling complex ICT delivery in Agile or hybrid environments, maintaining delivery flow amid changing priorities.
* Proven ability to orchestrate delivery across internal teams and external partners, including Agile ceremonies and release readiness.
* Experience working in DevOps environments, collaborating with assurance functions to support quality outcomes and confident releases.
* Strong stakeholder engagement skills, acting as a trusted coordination and escalation point while promoting direct Subject Matter Expert (SME) collaboration.
* Proven capability in managing delivery risks, dependencies, and decision latency through practical, fit for purpose solutions.
* Experience assisting with the establishment and ongoing operation of a small service desk or support function, including intake, triage, and coordination of ICT issues.
* Leadership aligned with APS Values, with a collaborative style and ability to influence without authority.
Data Delivery Team
The Data Delivery Team defines, manages and builds the data and analytics solutions and products required by the program. We are responsible for data migration, data governance and master data management, reporting and analytics, data engineering and data modelling.
Desirable requirements for someone joining the Data Delivery Team:
* Experience with data and analytical technology solutions.
* Experience with workforce management to support current and future demands.
* Ability to clearly articulate complex technical concepts through written reports, presentations, and formal documentation.
* Experience managing risks, resolving issues collaboratively, and ensuring team align with strategic objectives and compliance standards.
* Ability to provide leadership and oversight across multiple concurrent streams, ensuring they are delivered on time, within scope, and to quality standards.
* AEC employees must be Australian citizens.
