Orientation & Mobility (O&M) Specialist

Are you passionate about empowering individuals with vision impairment to navigate the world with confidence? We're looking for a dedicated Orientation & Mobility (O&M) Specialist to provide life-changing support, helping clients develop their independence and mobility skills.
About the Role
In this rewarding position, you will:
Deliver individualised O&M programs, including cane training, route travel, public transport navigation, and orientation strategies.
Conduct comprehensive assessments and develop tailored mobility plans.
Train clients in the use of assistive technology, such as GPS systems and electronic mobility devices.
Work with individuals across diverse environments -from homes and workplaces to public spaces.
Provide guidance to clients with additional disabilities and tailor training to their specific needs.
Educate families, carers, and professionals on best practices for supporting individuals with vision impairment.
Collaborate with NDIS and My Aged Care providers to ensure clients receive appropriate support services.
Maintain accurate case documentation and contribute to service development initiatives.
About You
To excel in this role, you will have:
A tertiary qualification in Occupational Therapy or Education with a Masters or Diploma in Orientation & Mobility or Sensory Disability.
Experience in providing O&M services to individuals of all ages.
Excellent communication and problem-solving skills .
The ability to work both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team .
A valid driver's licence and willingness to travel across metropolitan and regional areas.
Willingness to stay overnight in regional areas when required
