About us

Legal Aid NSW delivers accessible legal services across criminal, family and civil law. We provide advice, court representation, and family dispute resolution through 28 offices and phone-based support, helping people navigate the legal system with confidence and fairness.

About the role

The role is responsible for providing high quality legal advice, minor assistance and casework services in areas such as consumer, mental health, human rights, employment, housing, immigration, social security, and/or coronial inquests, or other areas of civil law.

The Solicitor I-III role may work in a specialist team or general civil practice across NSW.

Roles include:

* Generalist civil roles - in metropolitan and regional offices
* Specialist roles - specialising in areas of law including Housing, Discrimination, Employment, Consumer, Social Security, NDIS, Veterans and Immigration
* Specialist services - including the Disaster Response Legal Service, the Civil Law Service for Aboriginal Communities, the Disability Legal Support Service, and the Mental Health Advocacy Service

The essential requirements for this role

You must:

* be admitted or be eligible for admission as a legal practitioner in NSW

* be able to provide a current NSW Practising Certificate before you start work with us

* be willing to do a Criminal Record Check and Working with Children Check

* hold Australian or NZ citizenship, Australian Permanent Residency (for ongoing vacancies) or a valid visa to work in Australia (for temporary vacancies)
