Position Purpose

We are seeking an experienced HR Manager to lead and strengthen our people function across multiple states. This role is pivotal in ensuring compliance with workplace legislation, driving efficient HR systems and supporting the growth of our skilled workforce.

The successful candidate will be highly regarded if they bring:


• Award & Compliance Expertise
– Immediately ensuring accurate application of Award rates and workplace laws across our operations in SA, VIC, NSW and QLD. Experience within the autobody repair or broader trades-based industries preferred, but not essential.


•
HR Systems & Processes
– Leading the implementation and optimisation of a HR, payroll and employee management platform to create consistent and streamlined processes for onboarding, payroll integration, performance management and employee records.


•
Apprenticeship Program Support
– Working closely with management to strengthen and scale our apprenticeship programs, building career pathways and ensuring compliance with training and employment obligations.


•
Visa & Sponsorship Management
– Experience in managing working visas and sponsorship obligations ensuring compliance with immigration requirements and supporting skilled migration processes.

This position is ideal for a HR professional who thrives in operationally focused environments, understands the nuances of trades-based industries and can balance compliance with a practical people-first approach.

Key Responsibilities

1. Recruitment & Workforce Planning


• Lead end-to-end recruitment processes including job design, advertising, interviewing and onboarding.


• Develop workforce plans to meet current and future staffing needs.


• Manage employee contracts, position descriptions and role classifications in line with legislation and Awards/Agreements.

2. Employee Relations & Engagement


• Act as the first point of contact for HR enquiries, providing advice on HR policies and procedures.


• Build and maintain positive employee relations, resolving workplace issues effectively.


• Drive initiatives to strengthen employee engagement, retention and satisfaction.

3. Performance & Development


• Implement and oversee performance management frameworks.


• Support managers in setting goals, coaching staff and managing underperformance.


• Develop training and professional development programs to build workforce capability.

4. Workplace Health, Safety & Wellbeing


• Ensure compliance with WHS legislation and internal policies.


• Promote employee wellbeing initiatives and support safe work practices.


• Oversee return-to-work and injury management processes.

5. Compliance & HR Policy


• Ensure compliance with the Fair Work Act 2009, National Employment Standards and relevant Awards/Enterprise Agreements.


• Maintain HR policies, procedures and employee records.


• Advise management on changes in workplace legislation, industrial relations and best practices.

6. HR Strategy & Leadership


• Contribute to business strategy through workforce planning and HR initiatives.


• Provide coaching and support to managers on people management.


• Drive diversity, equity and inclusion initiatives.

Key Selection Criteria

Qualifications & Experience


• Tertiary qualifications in Human Resources, Business or related field (or equivalent experience).


• Minimum 4 years HR experience, with at least 2 years in a leadership or advisory capacity.


• Strong knowledge of Australian employment law, industrial relations and HR best practices.


• Experience in developing HR policies, procedures and workforce strategies.

Skills & Competencies


• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to build trust and credibility.


• Strong problem-solving and conflict resolution abilities.


• High level of organisational skills with attention to detail.


• Proven ability to balance strategic and operational HR functions.


• Proficiency in HRIS systems and Microsoft Office Suite.

• Recruitment timelines and quality of hires.


• Employee engagement and retention levels.


• Compliance with WHS and workplace relations legislation.


• Timely resolution of employee relations matters.


• Delivery of HR initiatives aligned with business strategy.
