Assistant Accountant Role Overview
This role is a vital part of the finance team, supporting core operations across multiple locations. As an Assistant Accountant, you will be responsible for managing weekly payroll, accounts payable and receivable, bank reconciliations, and practitioner payments.
* Key Responsibilities:
* Prepare and process weekly payroll using Xero
* Manage accounts payable and receivable
* Conduct bank and balance sheet reconciliations
* Assist with doctor payments across practices
* Support month-end reporting and compliance tasks
* Maintain accurate employee records, entitlements, and superannuation payments
* Ensure adherence to payroll legislation and relevant awards
* Train others on payroll and payment systems as needed
Required Skills and Qualifications:
* Minimum 3 years' experience in an accounting or payroll role
* Strong proficiency in Xero and reconciliation processes
* Sound knowledge of Australian payroll legislation, including PAYG, Super, and tax
* Ability to work independently and hit the ground running
* Excellent attention to detail and a proactive mindset
* Healthcare or medical sector experience (preferred but not essential)
* No CPA qualification required
