Group Leader – Geotechnical Engineering, NSW – (2600005E)
Description An exciting internal opportunity for the role of Group Leader, Geotechnical Engineering, NSW has become available within Environment & Geosciences, due to the restructure of the geotechnical engineering practice across NSW and QLD. In this role, you will be responsible for building and maintaining strong client relationships and developing business opportunities to grow the group, as well as providing team leadership and project prioritisation to team by providing technical expertise to ensure that project outcomes in terms of profit, schedule, technical and quality standards, meet both the client and Stantec expectations. You will ensure your teams are fully utilised on projects and will work with the Project Managers and Business leaders to ensure projects are adequately resourced to meet project requirements and that the team is trained and appropriately skilled. The Group Leader position is a function, in addition to technical/project contribution role as Senior Principal Geotechnical Engineer. Day to day tasks would involve:
* Responsible for design of complex projects, requiring specialized knowledge, including technical preparation and coordination of the design, specifications, technical documentation test data, etc. to ensure compliance with project requirements.
* Support marketing and business development team in positioning for potential projects, writing technical portions of proposals, participating in client interviews, and supporting negotiations for project contracts.
* Support the Business Leader with monitoring and reporting on the performance of the team and in preparing annual BC business plans.
* Ensure allocated projects and proposals are planned, programmed, and appropriately managed to meet or exceed client expectations.
* Provide guidance to team members, as an internal technical expert.
To be successful for this role you'll need:
* Tertiary qualifications in Geotechnical or Civil Engineering
* Minimum of 10 years' related work, leadership, financial management and consulting experience; or an equivalent combination of education and related experience.
* Preferred accreditation as CPEng or RPGeo
* A broad range of skills covering people management, business development, project delivery and business management.
* Experience in managing teams with direct line management duties
