About the Role
An exciting opportunity has become available for a Warehouse Manager to join the Steamatic Geelong & Warrnambool team on a full-time, permanent basis.
This hands-on role is central to the daily operations of the branch, overseeing the warehouse, yard, and equipment to ensure all resources, tools, and vehicles are safe, maintained, and ready for deployment. The position is autonomous, fast-paced, and ideal for someone who enjoys variety and practical problem-solving in a busy operational environment.
You'll work closely with the operations and technician teams to keep the workflow running smoothly, particularly during peak restoration periods or emergency callouts.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee inventory control for materials, chemicals, tools, and equipment
- Conduct daily start-up checks and ensure the warehouse is operationally ready
- Manage maintenance and repairs of all tools, machinery, and vehicles
- Carry out and record test & tagging of electrical items (approx. 1,400 items quarterly)
- Perform general handyman and upkeep duties around the warehouse and yard
- Coordinate daily loading/unloading for technician vehicles (25+ vehicles)
- Maintain accurate service and maintenance records for vehicles and equipment
- Provide guidance to technicians and occasionally assist on-site where required
- Ensure compliance, safety standards, and reporting are met at all times
- Participate in weekly toolbox meetings
About You
To succeed in this role, you'll be someone who is adaptable, level-headed, and proactive in managing a busy and dynamic work environment. You'll take ownership of the warehouse and work confidently with minimal supervision, ensuring efficiency, safety, and organisation across all areas.
You will bring:
- Experience in warehouse or facilities management
- Solid mechanical aptitude and general maintenance skills
- Excellent organisational and time management abilities
- Ability to prioritise and handle reactive workloads effectively
- Confident communication skills and teamwork across departments
- Intermediate computer literacy (inventory or maintenance systems)
Licences & Compliance
- Forklift Licence: Required
- Test & Tag Certification: Preferred (can be obtained post-employment)
- White Card & WWCC: Preferred (can be obtained post-employment)
- Police Check: Required
- Random alcohol testing may be conducted as part of company policy
Hours, Salary & Benefits
- Hours: Monday to Friday, 7:00 am - 5:00 pm - Flexibility given/required
- Location: Grovedale, VIC (occasional visit to Warrnambool site and on-site attendance as required)
- Salary: $70,000 - $80,000 + Superannuation (negotiable for experience)
- Vehicle: Company vehicle included in package
A generous handover period will be offered with guidance and training on day to day operations.
