Key Selection Criteria
• Qualification and/or high level of experience in social work, community services, or housing related discipline.
• High level of administrative skills and computer literacy and effective time management skills.
• Excellent interpersonal skills including well- developed communication, advocacy and negotiation skills.
• A demonstrated knowledge of the local Aboriginal community, culture and understanding of factors that impact the social, economic, spiritual wellbeing and housing of Aboriginal people and their family networks.
• Demonstrated ability to develop tailored case plans that identify and prioritise support needs.
• Experience and understanding of homelessness, the public/community housing sectors and associated key stakeholders and support agencies would be highly regarded.
• An ability to work in a culturally appropriate and respectful manner with the Aboriginal community.
• Comprehensive knowledge and understanding of the Youth employment, education and training.
• Experience in effectively engaging young people who have had an out of home care experiences and/or are at risk of homelessness.
• An ability to facilitate individual and group workshops and events aimed at young people.
• An ability to work effectively with Aboriginal organisations, Government departments and community service organisations.
Qualifications and Registrations Requirement (Essential or Desirable).
• A relevant tertiary qualification in Social Work, Psychology, Youth Work and/or related behavioural sciences at degree level with substantial experience; or associate diploma level with substantial experience in the relevant service stream, or less formal qualifications with specialised skills sufficient to perform at this level ESSENTIAL
• Valid driver's licence ESSENTIAL
• A satisfactory Working with Children Check and Fit2Work Police Check ESSENTIAL
• A person of Aboriginal and or Torres Strait Islander background DESIRABLE
• Proof of COVID-19 vaccinated to align with GEGAC requirements ESSENTIAL
