About the role
We're looking for a communications specialist with consulting experience across government, who thrives in a small team and enjoys both strategic thinking and hands‐on delivery.
This is a manager‐level role suited to a true generalist, someone who can work autonomously, build trusted client relationships, and confidently move between leading projects and delivering high‐quality communications products.
In this role you will work closely with government clients, navigating complex stakeholder environments and often managing multiple projects at once. You'll be responsible for shaping communication strategies, developing clear and effective content, and delivering work that stands up in high‐accountability environments.
The kind of work you'll do
As a small team, we do it all! You'll have real ownership and responsibility, and be expected to contribute across the full lifecycle of our work, from early thinking and client engagement through to delivery.
Our projects typically include:
* developing communication and engagement strategies to support organisational goals and drive change
* working with our creative team to translate complex strategies and processes into compelling video, animation and designed products
* creating high‐quality written products such as briefs, messaging frameworks, stakeholder updates, presentations, and guidance material
* supporting clients to improve how they work, including capability uplift, new ways of working, and clearer internal and external communication
* designing and delivering practical, user‐focused content, including workshops, training materials, and learning resources
* translating complex policy, operational, or technical concepts into clear, accessible communications
* advising senior leaders and teams on communication approaches in fast‐moving, high‐scrutiny environments.
You will be actively involved in problem‐solving with clients and trusted to exercise sound judgement in shaping advice and outputs.
What you bring
* Minimum 5 years' experience in communications, ideally in consulting, agency, or professional services environments.
* Demonstrated experience working with government clients.
* Strong understanding of communication strategy and core communications disciplines.
* Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, from strategic leadership through to hands‐on delivery.
* Ability to work autonomously, with clear accountability for outcomes.
* A genuine enjoyment of collaborative problem‐solving and client‐facing work.
* Excellent attention to detail and pride in producing high‐quality work.
* Strong time management skills and a consistent ability to meet deadlines.
