To create innovative and compelling digital media stories to engage young people and the
wider community in disaster risk reduction strategies to restore planetary health.

To create and share stories about the most inspiring examples of solutions for planetary
health in our community, drawn from all sectors.

To work with the Planetary Health team to establish and maintain hyperlocal
communications platforms in the Blue Mountains and Lithgow, supported by a Planetary
Health online portal.

To provide Digital Media training to storytellers in the Planetary Health Team, and to the
community, via the Planetary Health Pluriversity.

Blue Mountains Planetary Health Initiative
including universities and other education bodies,
local organisations, local community groups and
businesses, Blue Mountains and Lithgow
residents, the Lithgow Transformation Hub and
Lithgow Council

**KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- To use creative digital media to support the Senior Lead of the Planetary Health

Initiative and the Planetary Health Team to deliver an 18-month grant-funded program
pioneering systemic change through community water management initiatives,
neighbourhood communication platforms, and co-designed place-based accelerated
research and learning to support disaster risk reduction for planetary health.
- To work with the Planetary Health Team to create compelling digital storytelling and

marketing for social media, hyperlocal communication platforms and a Planetary
Health web portal.
- To establish and maintain hyperlocal communications platforms in the Blue Mountains

and Lithgow.
- To explore creative and innovative ways to engage young people in the project.
- To train the Planetary Health team, and community, in digital storytelling.

**Workplace Health & Safety**

Ensure compliance with WHS obligations and responsibilities as outlined in Councils
policies and procedures and under the relevant WHS legislation. These include but are
not limited to: identifying potentially unsafe situations or work practices and notifying your
Supervisor or Manager (or the Health, Safety Manager/Area Safety Representative);
never performing a task that you believe is dangerous or for which you do not have the
experience, or have not received appropriate instructions and training or where the correct
equipment to carry out the task safely is not available; always work in a safe manner and
in accordance with safety instructions, where applicable; use the work equipment supplied
for the job, in accordance with the manufacturer's instructions), and any personal
protective equipment, which the Council deems necessary and has provided; be safety
aware and report any actions to your line manager which will assist the Council to meet
its legal workplace health and safety obligations.

You have the right to cease or direct cessation of unsafe work. In addition you are required
at all times to comply with Councils Asbestos Management Plan and Policy.

**COMMUNICATION**

This position requires creative and innovative thinking, and a high level of interpersonal
and communication skills, in order to engage everyone to participate in cultural change,
and to build relationships with a broad cross-section of the community. It also requires
regular liaison and collaboration with the Planetary Health Team to prioritise and shape
stories, as well as communication and education strategies.

**JUDGEMENT & PROBLEM SOLVING**

Working closely with a newly-formed Planetary Health team to trial innovative new Local
Government-led education, research and communications initiatives, this position will
require an ability to collaborate to develop current procedures and policies in consultation
with the team as needs arise.
