North Street Store (NSS) is a retro corner takeaway food store built for all-day, everyday use.
We started North Street 8 years ago with a simple mission: to shape a world where people eat better. We are deeply passionate about food and hospitality, and we exist to share that passion with our local community through thoughtful food, genuine service, and consistency you can rely on.
We serve hot and cold food for breakfast, lunch, and dinner at takeaway prices. The food is fresh, lovely, seasonal, and affordable across everything we do. We acknowledge the traditions of the past while modernising them with exceptional service, quality, and consistency.
We refer to our team as All Rounders. This means we are all here to serve the customer, and that service can take many forms. It might be running the coffee machine, helping at the counter, making sambos, supporting the kitchen, or stepping in wherever the business needs support in that moment.
This is not a purely shift-based role. We are looking for someone who wants to come on the journey with us—someone who gets genuinely excited about food or coffee and enjoys sharing that enthusiasm with customers and teammates alike. Someone who wants to grow with the company and take on more responsibility over time.
Full-Time Team Member (Pathway to Senior Leadership)
This is not just a shift-based role.
This is a full-time position for someone who wants to learn the business properly, take ownership of their work, and grow with the company over time. We're looking for someone who wants to become a senior leader in the business as opportunities arise.
Because coffee is central to what we do, a specialty coffee experience is essential. You should be comfortable working confidently on a coffee machine from day one.
We're looking for a hospitality all-rounder—someone who's comfortable supporting different parts of the business as needed. That might mean jumping on the coffee machine, helping make sambos, supporting the kitchen, restocking retail, or stepping into service to keep things moving.
Barista Skills (Baseline Requirement)
You don't need to be a competition barista, but you should be confident with:
* Dialling in and adjusting espresso
* Texturing milk correctly and consistently
* Working cleanly and efficiently during busy service
* Producing fast, consistent coffee to a set standard
* Understanding basic specialty coffee workflow and terminology
Your Role Day to Day
* Delivering fast, friendly, consistent service
* Preparing and serving food and specialty coffee to spec
* Running the coffee machine confidently during service
* Supporting service, kitchen, and retail as required
* Keeping the venue clean, organised, and well-presented at all times
* Supporting retail presentation and stock rotation
* Driving the day-to-day flow of service
* Taking pride in the details, even when things are moving quickly

As you develop in the role, you'll be supported to take on more responsibility, including:
* Opening and closing shifts
* Supporting and guiding newer team members
* Helping uphold standards across service, food, cleanliness, and coffee quality
* Handling customer feedback with confidence
* Learning stock control, ordering, and basic operational systems
* Contributing ideas to improve systems, flow, and guest experience
What Success Looks Like in the First 90 Days
* You're confident in service, food, and coffee standards
* You're a reliable and positive presence on shift
* You understand the rhythm of the business and busy periods
* You work well with the team and communicate clearly
* You take ownership of your section without needing to be asked
* Customers feel looked after and want to come back
* You're able to jump onto any section of the business and assist when required—coffee, service, kitchen, or retail. You don't need to be an expert in every area, but you have a solid working knowledge that allows you to support the team and keep service moving smoothly.
