Radiation Oncology - Medical Physics Registrar
* 4 Fixed Term, Full Time positions available
* 80 Hours per Fortnight with a Monthly ADO

About Us
Peter Mac offers a world-class network of imaging, planning and treatment facilities across five campuses - four metropolitan and one regional. Our equipment includes:
* 7 Philips Brilliance Big Bore and Siemens SOMATOM CT scanners with 4D imaging
* PET-CT scanner
* 16 Varian TrueBeam linear accelerators
* Cloud-hosted, hospital-wide Varian Eclipse treatment planning system
* A wide range of brachytherapy techniques
About the Department
Our Physical Sciences team includes 41 medical physicists (including 5 in training). We provide essential physics support for all radiotherapy services at Peter Mac, including:
* Commissioning and QA of equipment
* Radiation safety
* Clinical dosimetry
* Planning support for specialised treatments (brachytherapy, stereotactic therapy, whole-body irradiation, IMRT/VMAT)
We offer extensive opportunities for clinically relevant research, particularly in the development and introduction of new imaging and treatment techniques. Physicists are also encouraged to participate in tumour-stream activities.
About the Opportunity
We are currently seeking four (4) Radiation Oncology Medical Physics Registrars, one at each of our locations:
* Bendigo
* Box Hill
* Melbourne
* Sunshine
Essential Requirements
* A Master's degree in Medical Physics, accredited or approved by ACPSEM
* Eligibility to enrol in the ACPSEM TEAP (Radiation Oncology) and a commitment to progress toward ROMP certification within 3 years (More information available at the ACPSEM website. )
This role may involve some after-hours or weekend work and occasional travel between Peter Mac sites.
Potential candidates should be capable of self-directed work and have excellent problem-solving skills. Good oral and written communication skills are required, as is the ability to work effectively in a multi-disciplinary team.
Appointment & Salary
* Registrars without clinical experience will be appointed as Medical Physicist, Grade 1, with progression to Grade 2 (FF6) following a successful performance assessment.
* Registrars with clinical experience may be assessed for direct appointment at Grade 2 (FF6).

* To undertake components of the clinical training program for Radiation Oncology Medical Physics following ACPSEM TEAP (Training Education and Assessment Program of the Australasian College of Physical Scientists and Engineers in Medicine)
* To provide support for clinical services in radiation oncology medical physics under general supervision
* This position will require some out-of-hours duties, which may include weekend work

Skills
* Must have completed an ACPSEM accredited/approved Master's degree in medical physics
* A willingness to actively participate in the TEAP program and progress towards ROMP certification within 3 years
* To have completed a PhD in physics or medical physics.
* Experience in radiation oncology or imaging medical physics and/or radiation safety would be an advantage
* Experience in complementary disciplines of synergistic use in radiotherapy medical physics, such as programming or artificial intelligence would potentially be an advantage
* Experience in radiation oncology or diagnostic imaging medical physics and/or radiation safety
Certifications, Licenses & Registrations
ACPSEM Certification in Radiation Oncology Medical Physics or A Recognised Equivalent Qualification
Key Accountabilities
1. Participate and co-ordinate routine quality assurance tasks
QA program complies with Peter Mac requirements with respect to documentation, and scope and frequency of tests.
2. Provide effective clinical support
Be available for physics consultations routine tasks as requested by the site lead. Some flexibility to work at Peter Mac campuses may be required.
3. Strong problem solving ability
Proactively contributes to solving clinical problems involving clinical objectives, technical and scientific expertise.
4. Work effectively in medical physics teams
Self-motivation and initiative in addressing problems.
5. Communicate effectively
Good rapport with all staff.
