As a Cultural Practice Advisor, you'll work with people, partners and places to enable Queenslanders, especially the most vulnerable, to be safe and thrive. Based in Logan, you'll work on programs and community partnerships that preserve cultural connections for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and help them achieve positive life outcomes.

You'll also get to develop new initiatives that foster hope and opportunity among First Nations children, young people and families.

Targeted Vacancy

It is a genuine occupational requirement that this position be filled by an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander person.

Your Responsibilities
* Effectively and positively engaging with children, families, carers, and service providers to support cultural needs and achieve case plan goals.
* Delivering individualised, high-quality, and culturally appropriate casework support, child protection intervention and referrals.
* Working collaboratively with key stakeholders, including families and Recognised Entities, to establish and strengthen effective safety and support networks, including connection to extended family, community, country, and culture.
* Sharing cultural advice, knowledge of communities, and awareness of culturally significant processes and events to strengthen workforce cultural capability.
* Participating effectively and providing cultural leadership in a multidisciplinary team to deliver well‐planned and culturally appropriate family support services to children and families experiencing vulnerability.
* Actively contributing to a culture of continuous learning, training and professional development, to ensure practice knowledge and skills are contemporary and evidence‐based. Applying the strengths based, safety‐oriented Strengthening Families Protecting Children Framework for Practice when working with children and families and ensuring consistency with the vision of Our Way.
* Preparing and maintaining quality case records in accordance with departmental case‐management requirements.
* Contributing to strengthening workforce cultural capability through sharing cultural advice, knowledge of communities, and awareness of culturally significant processes and events.
To Succeed In This Role, You Will Have
* This role involves providing support to Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander peoples. It is a genuine occupational requirement that this position be filled by an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander person. This aligns with the Anti‐Discrimination Act 1991 protected attribute of race.
