Position Information
Marayong Public School is situated on traditional Aboriginal Dharug land in Western Sydney. The school has a fluctuating student enrolment of 630. FOEI is currently at 103. The student population is drawn from over 45 socio-cultural backgrounds predominately from Islander, African, Middle Eastern and Asian communities. 68% of the student population are from Language Backgrounds Other than English. 7% of students identify as Aboriginal and or Torres Strait Islander Peoples.
The school ensures equity for all learners including students within our 7 support Unit classes where teachers are aligned to their stage teams ensuring students are able to access the curriculum requirements at their grade level. There is a strong transition to school program with the onsite Public Preschool, that fosters a love of learning, curiosity and choice through a strong connection to school.
Currently the school is part of the Hawkesbury SoLA and promotes a culture of collaboration through instructional leadership. Student wellbeing is paramount in all school programs and students are encouraged to uphold the school's core values of being safe, responsible learners.
The school focuses on Literacy and Numeracy across the curriculum, and the development of general capabilities in preparing students for the future with an emphasis on explicit teaching. Technology is utilised wherever possible to support students' learning. Extra-curricular opportunities in sport, and the creative and performing arts support students' learning.
Selection Criteria
1. Approval to teach special education and/or experience, skills and knowledge to teach students with complex needs, including autism, intellectual disabilities, behaviour disorders, trauma and mental health in a multi-stage K-6 setting.
2. Demonstrated capacity to plan and deliver learning programs in literacy and numeracy catering to a wide variety of needs in a support class setting.
3. Proven ability to work collaboratively with parents and external stakeholders to develop individualised learning goals and personalised learning and support plans.
4. Demonstrated classroom management skills and proven capacity to implement positive behaviour strategies to support student engagement, participation and wellbeing in a support class setting.
Conditions
An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
