Lake Macquarie City Council provides unpaid work experience for people who are currently studying at secondary and tertiary levels. These placements are a great opportunity to learn from our staff and gain new skills and on-the-job experience, while exploring possible career opportunities.

If you are interested in completing Work Experience with Lake Macquarie City Council, please submit an application below. As part of your application you will be asked to include:
* Public liability coverage – certificate of currency to cover your whole placement.
* Student Placement Record – provided by your school.
* Selection of the areas you are interested in completing work experience with.

Essential Requirements
* Participants must be undertaking study at high school (public or private) or tertiary educational providers.
* Students must provide their own liability insurance to undertake a placement. If studying, they should be covered by their educational institution for the placement. A letter of currency will be required.
* Applications must be made at least 6 weeks prior to the preferred start date. All requests will be actioned within 48 hours; a response may take up to 14 days. If successful, you must complete onboarding tasks before the start date.
* Council has a random alcohol and other drugs testing program which applies to all employees, volunteers, work experience students, contractors, sub-contractors, labour hire and agency staff.
* Identify which department you would like to experience so that we have a clear understanding of your interests to match you with a meaningful area.
